While product education is not straight up sales, some product educator positions may have elements of traditional sales, business development, or account management positions. However, the main thrust of product education is to keep clients informed of changes, updates, or an array of product offerings a manufacturer may have, which sets up the client for purchases of those products at a later time. These positions are less “salesy” and more focused on education and demonstration, making them more appealing for some dental professionals.
Some product education jobs do not compensate as well as dental hygiene or sales positions, however they provide a valuable stepping stone toward a sales position.
